Dr. Liudmila Schafer’s TEDx talk, Awakening Your Organic Bravery®, has inspired more than 123,000 viewers worldwide, introducing her framework for discovering inner resilience, purpose, and personal potential. Her talk was in the top 10 of the world’s most-watched TEDx talks in June 2023.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Schafer is an active researcher with a special interest in precision medicine and the development of new cancer treatments. She is an investigator for clinical trials at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Before transitioning into oncology drug development in the biotech sector, Dr. Schafer served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at both the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. She led the gastrointestinal oncology program at the St Luke's Cancer Institute, conducted clinical trials as Principal Investigator, and served on the Institutional Review Board and the Conflict of Interest Committee.
Liudmila Schafer, MD, FACP, is a physician innovator, founder, fellowship-trained, board-certified medical oncologist, and physician-scientist with an established career spanning clinical practice, academic medicine, oncology drug development, clinical research, and medical education.
Across nearly three decades in medicine, she is also the best-selling author of The Other Side of Oncology and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and has a media presence as a TEDx and international speaker. Dr. Schafer discovered a passion for developing innovative ways to use her skills for a bigger cause beyond a single patient room!
Dr. Schafer’s professional development includes completing the Healthcare Leadership, Communication and Strategy, American Course of Research and Drug Development, and earning a Graduate Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science. She also completed executive education in Artificial Intelligence in Business Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
She patented the Organic Bravery® instrument, serves as a professional speaker, business consultant, and the Best-Selling Author of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.
She has been recognized with honors, including the Teaching Scholar Award, Counsel Leadership for Academic House distinction, and the All-Stars Award for Physician Excellence in Patient Satisfaction.
